A little bit about me...
Hi, my name is Rachel and I'm a student blogger from the Biostatistics department. I am a second year MS student in the program and entered last year after finishing my undergraduate degree in Math and Biology at Hamline University in St. Paul in 2006.
In my spare time (really, there isn't too much of that for me), I travel, teach karate lessons and coach competitions, workout, volunteer, and hang out with my friends and family. I've found that being able to squeeze these things that are so important to me into my life during grad school have been helpful in maintaining a little bit of sanity!
I am originally from Wisconsin and while I have not moved too far for school thus far, I do travel a lot and consider the Twin Cities my "home base" for all of my adventures. I am the oldest of four kids and have a very unique relationship with everyone in my family. My youngest brother is coming to the U of M as a college freshman on a baseball scholarship - I'm sure you'll hear all about his games in the spring! My other brother, who is just 16 months my junior, will graduate this spring from college with a teaching license in Physical education, with an emphasis in Special Education. My sister is currently attending school for apparel design... watch out, she may just be the next big designer!
That's enough about me, I hope you had a great summer and look forward to the upcoming school year. Go Gophers!
