As Summer 2012 draws to a close and the weather turns cooler, the ReMAP students have returned to campus. The second year students return from internships with a variety of companies incuding: IBM DemandTec Solutions, maurices, Supervalu, 3M, Schwans Food Company, Kohls, Toro, US Bank, Twin City Automobiles, Afinia and ZMC Hotels. The first year students are looking forward to securing their analytic internships for Summer 2013.
The ReMAP program was lucky enough to welcome Ms Ellen Lowe from General Mills as a guest speaker on Friday, February 3rd. Ellen shared her enthusiasm and experience in Marketing Analytics with the students.
The students had worked through Category Development and Brand Development Indexes for the sugar substitute category the first week of class and it was good to hear how these Indexes were used at General Mills.

The computer lab for the Retail Marketing Analytics Program is taking shape. LSBE Room 119, the 1st Street Gang Room which is adjacent to the LSBE Atrium is being re-purposed during the winter break. The new dedicated computer lab will increase the visibility of the Retail Marketing Analytics Program.
The new computer tables and chairs arrived January 3rd. The University's facilities staff are running the data and electrical cables through these new tables today.
The fall semester has quickly come to finals week. The last of the six sessions for the new ReMAP program students was held on December 15th. Students spent the majority of the session reviewing their draft resumes.
Students will submit their resumes by December 21st and these will be collated into an internship book for distribution to industry in early January.

The sixteen ReMAP students have started meeting on Thursday evenings to learn more about the marketing analytics field and get a preview of the large data sets that will be used during the Marketing Analytic Courses.

Following the interviews, sixteen students have been selected in the initial cohort for the Retail Marketing Analytics Program.
These sixteen students will gather for an initial meeting tonight (11/3). Pictures and brief Bios on the students will be posted to the ReMAP website and here in December.
The students who applied for the Retail Marketing Analytics Program have all been scheduled for interviews sometime this week (10/25 - 10/28).
The Program's Faculty Advisers and I will interview each of the students who applied. We are planning to notify all successful applicants by 11/1 of their admittance into the program.
