The Women's Faculty Cabinet, with support from the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, was established to provide leadership to improve and enrich the academic and professional environments for women faculty at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

The Women's Faculty Cabinet served as the selection committee for the newly-launched Ada Comstock Distinguished Women Scholars Lecture, an award/lecture established to acknowledge and honor the scholarly accomplishments and leadership of distinguished women faculty at the University. The inaugural lecture was given in fall 2005 by Catherine Verfaillie of the Stem Cell Institute: ''Caught in Cultural Crosswinds: The Promise and the Pitfall of Stem Cell Research.''
