Minnesota Microfiche serials

There are quite a few serial publications in the Minnesota microfiche collection, since governments tend to publish the same reports over and over. When we bought the catalog records for the fiche from PALS, we realized that the catalog records often listed only the latest fiche number. (Note that periodicals have their own numbers - this message is about non-periodical serial publications.) Our plan when we bought the records was that staff would add notes to help staff and users as time allows. In the meantime, we recommend ALWAYS looking at the Legislative Reference Library in PALS for complete notes. As we identify these titles, Daniel can import the notes and add them to MNCAT. He has just done that for a couple, so you can see what I mean. One is Compare Minnesota, the other is the proposed state budget. There are lots of MNCAT records - here is the one for the serial record for fiche:

Minnesota. Governor.
Proposed biennial budget presented by [the] Governor to the ... Legislature of the State of Minnesota.
Aleph 1921268

This record now has very long notes listing all the parts of the budget in fiche, for 1983-2003. For users studying old budgets (as someone did only a few weeks ago) this is very helpful. We have some in paper but not all.

If you come across serials where you need to go to LRL to find all the fiche listed, print off the LRL record (in MARC format) and give it to Daniel, and he can add the notes to our record.
