The Copy Service will scan a document and then send you a link to the digitalized copy. They charge $.25 per page. Barb from the Copy Service knows what budget number to charge it on. If you would like to see the results, I have included the message I received. They are sending it out via Lumnia to You.
Thanks,
Lynne

The Value Line Records that refer to the version that covers large cap stocks are:
The Value line investment survey. Part 1, Summary & index.
The Value line investment survey. Part 3, Ratings & reports.
HG4501 .V26
Currently, these are kept together in the same binder, which has "Ratings and Reports" on the side of it. This is *not* the Expanded Edition, nor the small cap, nor, apparently, Part 2.
There is a patron who does come in semi-regularly to look at the large cap stock version, thus this entry.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service website now offers electronic copies of the NASS reports (Agricultural prices, Crop production, Livestock slaughter, etc.) dating back to the 1960's. Choose Publications, then Title.

For a while now, there has been a pilot project called "Government Information Online" that provides national email and chat services devoted exclusively to government information. We are participating in the email component for its last 2 months. Doing so entails changing our email form to point to the GIO email form and then logging into the Questionpoint website to answer the questions that come to our email form.
This has the following results:
1. We will need to log into QuestionPoint every work day to check for questions in addition to Eudora for govref. Both browsers on the GPL refdesk computer have been setup to do so.
1.1 All questions that go through QuestionPoint will be stored in the QP KnowledgeBase.
2. Some questions may still come directly to govref@umn.edu, but not many.
3. All infopoint questions will still come to govref@umn.edu.
For the first week, I will do all the checking since I can't answer any questions about how the program works until we get a question... --Amy
There have been several questions on this topic lately so here is a bit of information. Add more if you have other resources to suggest - maybe there is a small guide or FAQ buried here. Non-profits and other organizations get that status through Section 501-C3 of the tax code. People have to look them up at tax time to see if they can deduct contributions. The source used to be the Cumulative List of Organizations (IRS pub 78), but that is now searchable online at http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78.
Exempt organizations file IRS Form 990. Organizations' forms are available through the IRS web site, which actually refers you to GuideStar. See chart at http://www.irs.gov/foia/ for useful links including http://www.guidestar.org/help/faq_990.jsp . GuideStar charges for some information but recent 990 reports seem to be free - you need to register. They also have some good information in the FAQ. GuideStar has a great deal of information on non-profits.

The State Demographer's Office is getting requests from students at Luther Seminary for 1980 Census data by zip code for Minnesota. They will be referred here, since we do have printouts from the former MRDC, of basic population and housing data. They need to know what zip code they want, then look at the pages of data. They can take the pages for their zip codes to a copier, but be sure they get back to the files in the correct place! We have only one set. I have put these on the counter behind the desk next to Fillmore.
I'll try to find out how long this assignment will be active. If you talk to any users, ask them!
