Tips for Finding WWII Technical Manuals

1. Public Documents Masterfile - you'll either get the Sudoc or a reference to the Monthly Catalog which will have the Sudoc in it. From there, you go to the shelflist to see if we actually ever had that publication. All Ws are in the stroage shelflist.

2. Military Information Publishing - http://www.military-info.com/Index.htm - this is the site for the guy who used to come in all the time to copy our WWII docs. He uses the correct titles (unlike the index below sometimes) and if you find what you're looking for on his site, you ought to be able to go directly to Public Documents Masterfile. That's what I did today. His site is simple and easy to search using the browser's Find in Page function. If you have on luck there, then...

3. List and Index of Department of the Army Publications - USRef; use the titles there to help with searches in Public Documents Masterfile, MNCAT (might have been part of Dewey coll. and therefore cataloged; happens unpredictably) and WorldCat.

Note: if we don't have the publication and it's not listed on WorldCat, you can send an email to Govdoc-L asking if anyone out there has an uncataloged copy of what you're looking for that they are willing to lend.

Little White Notebook and RefSearch Form Notebook now retired

Logon information for GPRefdesk computer and voicemail password are in the same location as the guest password. RefSearch forms, completed and blank are now in the bottom left rolling cabinet. The guides in the back of the RefSearch notebook are now clipped together on the top of the left rolling cabinet. The notebooks have been dismantled.--Amy

Desktop Calendar on GP ref computer

I've installed a calendar that sits on the desktop of the GP refdesk. It is intended as a possible replacement for the print one that goes under the monitor. See how you like having it there over the coming semester so we can decide whether to buy another paper one for next year or not...FYI, I already prefer the one on the desktop, so that's my vote... --Amy
