Biomedical devices assignment

We are starting to see biomechanical engineering students in the Bio-Medical Library again seeking help with a particularly challenging assignment. As I recall from last term, the assignment is that they have to find at least one peer-reviewed article that not clinical (that is, a human study) about a specific biomedical device. For example, the article can't be about pacemakers in general but instead has to be about a very specific type of pacemaker. Mechanical or animal studies are okay; also, articles that focus on the engineering design of the device. I haven't yet had a chance to see an actual assignment prompt this term, so keep in mind that the assignment might have changed.

I wrote a rather extensive blog post about this in November. Please let me know if there is anything that needs to be added or changed. After I receive your feedback, I will create a research guide for our Web site. I truly would like to know if you have any additional techniques or tricks that are helpful.
