Mncat E-journals

Hello All!

In case anyone is wondering where the E-journals are in the Twin Cities catalog (MNCAT)…There was a MarcIt load of E-journals today, which uses an enhanced feature in SFX to import E-journal bib records into the catalog. During this process all the old SFX generated records are wiped out and replaced with new and updated ones. Today 20,000+ records were loaded which has caused a delay in their appearance in the Twin Cities catalog. The records should be in the TC catalog soon (maybe by the time this is sent), but if a patron is using MNCAT and wondering why there is not an online record for a particular journal have them check the E-journals page and/or the All Campus Catalog. Just remember that we only have access to TC Internet Resources. Let me know if there are any other questions concerning this.

Ovid and Netscape 8.0

Deb and Dan have been working with a patron who has been getting kicked out of the Ovid databases. This particular problem has been traced the patron's use of Netscape 8.0. If you receive a call on the desk from anyone having difficulty with Ovid keep this in mind.

SFX

I just got a message from the folks at Wilson and SFX is down; it was sent out late yesterday. When you click on a link to an E-journal through MNCAT or the E-journal page it says that we do not have the item in an electronic format even though we should. As soon as I hear that SFX is up again I will let you know.

For now you can still access some of our E-journals through MNCAT. Use the records without [electronic resource], but have a TC Internet Resource link along with the print holdings. If you have any questions please let me know.
