Greetings,
I just want to remind you that the use study of print items in the Bio-Med Library's reference collection continues at least through the end of this year. Katherine would like us to gather two years of data we can use to inform collection management decisions, (e.g., purchasing, weeding and moving items to general stacks). So, this means that patrons should not reshelve books; instead, they should leave them on a table or the cart.
At least once a day, reference staff need to gather up the print reference items and scan them in the Circulation module of Aleph under In House Use. Traditionally, the person who opens the Reference Desk in the morning takes care of this. Brief instructions are in the Opening and Closing Procedures for the Bio-Med Reference Desk (O:\Reference\Ref Desk\Ref Desk Opening & Closing Procedures.doc). Also, it would be fabulous if this would happen more than once a day, especially when the collection is being used heavily. That way, our data will come closer to reflecting actual usage of the collection.
Please see me or Del with any questions.
Thanks,
Martha
We've been spiffing up the Bio-Med Consumer Health area on the 2nd floor. Thus far, we have new area rugs that will hopefully help to define the geographic space. Today, our new bookshelves arrived! We still need to move the sign that is hanging from the ceiling and a new literature rack has yet to arrive.
Let me or Del know what you think or if you have any questions.
Martha
