The CD Index to Jewish Periodicals is now loaded on the Consultation Station, as it is not compatible with one of the other files on the regular CD workstation.
It may not get a lot of use, but there is a fairly large class in Intro to Jewish History and Culture and several of the students have been in to see me, so there could be some requests to use this database.
Set them up at the consultation station if they ask for this file or if you prefer, you may refer them to me and I'll set them up if I'm here.

The update CD for Catalogue de l'Ecole Biblique has been loaded and registered (access is A-OK!).
There is a quick guide in the desk drawer at the CD workstation desk, and it's on the Web. There's a longer guide - until we figure out where to store that it will be at my desk.

Hi All, A new CD-ROM has been installed on the Wils Ref CD workstation: Crime Fiction IV: A Comprehensive Bibliography, 1749-2000 by Allen J Hubin. It contains revised contents of Crime Fiction III (in print), continued through 2000; author and title index to over 106,000 books; contents of more than 6,600 collections; and lists over 4,500 movies. Just a reminder, when using the Passenger and Index List CD on the IRIS CD-ROM computer, you must actually put the CD in the computer. If you click the icon, a message appears saying CD not loaded. The CD is located in the right filing cabinet behind the reference desk (file cabinet "k"), in the second drawer which is labeled "Reference CD's." The documentation for all of the IRIS CD's on the workstation are filed in this drawer alphabetically. So, look for it in the P's.

Hi All: All of the ETRC Materials formerly housed in my office have been handed over to George Swan. George is going to handle each title according to instructions I received from the individual subject selectors. The majority of the CDs will be copied and the copies will be sent to the circulating stacks.

The SSCI (Social Science Citation Index) files on the cdrom work station by the Wilson reference desk are refusing to load...we get a message saying "cannot start more than one copy of the selected program." -- Denny
Autosys will not be able to get to this until Friday. So, for the time being, the SSCI cd-roms will be down until then. --Lisa
In addition to the Dyabola CD there is online access. Check the ref bookmarks for the link and "key." Susan G. is familiar with this database and can advise best way to get into the database in English. Be sure to select "Realkatalog" and not the default database on the menu. Use String to search and set drop down menu on Ignore capitals and accents. Use Export (I think) to print and View to get a print preview. You might wish to recommend the online version if a student reserves the CD at a time when the writing center staff is using the same desk. -- SG

Charles and I have agreed to have Autosys house the ETRC workstation in storage for the time being. In addition, we are suppressing the public records.

Leave the password blank, and then just press enter.
