Late on Thursday, June 14th, Parking and Transportation Services
received official word from the Minnesota Department of Public
Transportation (MnDOT) of ramp closures that will effect University
of Minnesota (U of M) communters.
Early next week, MnDOT will begin a bridge repair and pavement
rehabilitation project on Interstate 35W between I-94 and Stinson
Boulevard. The work is scheduled to be completed in late September.
U of M commuters will be especially affected by ramp closures for the
next two weeks.
Beginning on Monday, June 18, the ramp from University Avenue to
southbound I-35W will be closed. The ramp is scheduled to reopen at 5
a.m. on Monday, July 2.
Starting on Wednesday, June 20, the ramp from southbound I-35W to 4th
Street will be closed. The ramp is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m.,
Monday, June 25.
MnDOT warns that significant traffic delays are expected throughout
the construction project and motorists are encouraged to seek
alternate routes and avoid the construction zone, if at all possible.

For those who don't like the idea of downloading tax forms off the web (link at
http://www.lib.umn.edu/libdata/page.phtml?page_id=1043,
I noticed today that there's a kiosk with US and MN income tax forms to take in the skyway between Blegen and Wiley over Washington Avenue (across from the Gopher Express West area -- the little post office/candy store/etc.) / Denny

MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (9/19/2005) -- Immigrants and refugees who relocate to Minnesota will now have a new online resource for information and services. Called “New to America, the online resource center is part of the ISEEK web-based education and career gateway that was developed out of a partnership between the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU), the University of Minnesota, the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Private Colleges Council.
The "Cedar Riverside" LRT stop is roughly four blocks southwest of the intersection of Cedar and Riverside. It's on the west side of the Baja Riverside Bar and Grill (which is at 1501 S. 6th Street), or about two blocks south of Mixed Blood Theater (along 15th Avenue). It's thus a good six blocks from Wilson Library.
To get to it from Wilson, go to Cedar/Riverside and take 4th Street S.(which is what Riverside becomes, sort of) west two blocks to Mixed Blood Theater. At Mixed Bloodk, 4th Street S. curves south to become 15th Avenue; follow it two blocks to the station.
Or--take Cedar Avenue down to 6th St. S. and then follow 6th Street three blocks to the west (this is a slightly longer route, though).
I put a map in the daybook (page 100) and the Mapquest link below should also work. / Denny
