Current Photocopy Prices (March 2008)

I can never find link to photocpy prices, or even photocopy "home page" when I need it, so:

It's from Wilson Library home page, under "Copy Service" on "Building information" list: / Denny

Wilson Copy Services

Regular black and white photocopying. Bring us pretty much anything and we'll try our best to make a copy for you (as long as it doesn't violate copyright). Our charges are 20¢ per exposure.

Color copying. Our color copying machine will make 8-1/2 x 11 or 11 x 17 color copies (again, we can't violate copyright, but we'll try our best to copy what we can).
Prices are $1.00 per exposure
(11 x 17 copies are $2.00 each).

Microform copying. We can make hard copy printouts (8-1/2 x 11) of either microfiche or microfilm. Just be aware that these requests can take a little more time than regular photocopies. 30¢ per page.

Transparencies. We will make transparency copies of any hard copy you bring us (sorry, no digital files though). Because our copiers are quite particular, we use our own transparency paper, so don't worry about bringing your own.
50¢ per copy.

Sheet-fed copies. Do you have a stack of clean loose pages that we can just drop into our sheet-feeder to copy? That's so easy; we'll charge you only 10¢ per exposure. Our machines can also sort, stack and staple at no additional charge (but you do have to ask first).

Uniprint Update

Kurt (from the company that services Uniprint) says that our printer will be up as soon as the Etherjack connection is turned on. In the meantime, as the sign on the Uniprint says, users can pick up print jobs in the basement.

DAI holdings in Wilson

Date: Wed, 14 Apr 2004 07:54:17 -0500
To: [REFFERS]
From: Julia K
Subject: Fwd: dissertation abstracts

Hi Reffers--

I wanted to alert you to some difficulties some patrons have had recently with Dissertation Abstracts International. An instructor must be telling students to use DAI--we've never had so many requests for it in the Annex as we have in the past two weeks! If we're getting a lot of questions I'm sure you're getting more of them.

Anyhoo, the holdings information is a little confusing, so I asked Kate to figure out what is held where so we can direct patrons to the right locations. I've copied the information below, including the current locations and what Kate has identified as the difficulty patrons might be having in locating the volumes they want.

I hope this helps, and please do contact Kate (savag016) or myself if we can clarify anything.

Thanks everyone!
Julia

Hi Julia

Here's the lowdown on dissertation abstracts international.

Dissertation Abstracts International A-Humanities and Social Science
Z5053 D57ax
We physically have v.41-60 (1980-1999)
Problem: In the holdings, there is a note listing v. 30-40 as being in Ref.
However, the Annex is listed as the location for v.30-40 when you scroll
through the list of holdings.

Dissertation Abstracts International B-Sciences and Engineering
Z5053 D57bx

Same situation as above:
We physically have v.41-60 (1980-1999)
Problem: In the holdings, there is a note listing v. 30-40 as being in Ref.
However, the Annex is listed as the location for v.30-40 when you scroll
through the list of holdings.

Dissertation Abstracts International C European/Worldwide
Z5053 D57cx

We physically have v. 41-56 (1980-1995). Ref physically has 37-40.

Problem: The holdings show that the Annex is the location for vols. 37-56.

Dissertation Abstracts International, Retrospective Index
No call number, these are shelved in the Annex Periodicals.
We physically have vols.1-3, 5-9.

Problem: I can get the record in Aleph if I scan one of the volumes. The
holdings say we should also have vol. 4.
I can't seem to find it when I do a title search in MNCAT.

Annex fetching info

Several departments retrieve materials from the Annex on a daily basis. This is just a reminder that Annex staff is always happy to train and assist staff and student staff on using the compact shelving. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about using the compact shelving. --SG (note from Kate S.)

Welcome to the world of blogs!

Hello Wilson IRIS! Welcome to the world of blogs. This is just a short message detailing some important points to remember about the software you are using, Movable Type. Note on the right hand side there is a link called "Movable Type manual." Take a look at this manual, especially the section dealing with "Entries." For the most part, this is all you will be doing on your blog is making entries, and/or making comments on other people's entries. I can help you with your "look and feel" or you can feel free to try and adjust it yourself.

On the administrative side note that you can both make a new entry and edit existing entries. Editing is handy especially when you make a spelling mistake. You may also upload files such as pictures, but keep in mind that you have a 1 MB limit. The Templates section is where you can alter the appearance of your blog. Keep in mind if you make any alterations in this section you must use "Rebuild Site" to see the changes reflected on your site. Next you may create new Categories or delete/modify existing ones. You can also create new categories as you enter a new entry. One area you may want to stay out of is the "Core Setup" area of the "Weblog Config." This is where all your directories are set. Otherwise feel free to roam around and make some changes.

Don't worry about messing stuff up (too much). As one of the first in the libraries to have a blog I'm counting on you to experiment and let me know what needs to be changed, added, deleted or what needs to happen to make blogs take off at the University Libraries.

You may delete this message when you feel it is appropriate.
