Subject: ERes access procedures added to notebook
>
>I've added to the Circulation desk Reserve Policies/Procedures notebook a
section about ERes Access. It includes general guidelines for locating ERes
course pages and more detailed information about course-level passwords.
>
>Please review the guidelines in the Reserve notebook whenever you get a
chance. Let me know if anything needs clarification.
>
>Also, when I'm not available, Ryan Stoer at Wilson Reserve may be able to
respond to any patron questions related to the course-level passwords or
ERes access. His phone number is 624-8609 and his hours are often until 8
p.m. (This may be good to know for evening staff here who need assistance
with ERes access questions.)
From Terry: I have added a copy to the Big Red Notebook.

In accordance with recently revised Libraries policies regarding Fair Use
and copyrighted materials, a course-level password is now required for
students to access Electronic Reserve (ERes) course readings. This is to
ensure that only students enrolled in courses using ERes have access to the
readings. I will be assigning these passwords to each course, providing
them to course instructors, and requesting the instructors notify their
students of the addition of a course-level password.
Since patrons sometimes ask public service staff to assist with locating
ERes readings, please be aware that this course-level password will be
necessary to view the readings. If patrons do not know or have forgotten an
ERes course password, please recommend that they contact the instructor for
the password. (However, you still will be able to show them how to get to
the entrypoint for the course page: the course password is required at the
Copyright Acceptance screen for the course.)
I also will maintain a record of these passwords, and let Steve, Priscilla,
and Jeanne know where the record is kept in case use of the passwords to
help patrons is essential. Also please be aware that these procedures may
change in the future as procedures for implementation of the new Fair Use
policies become more established.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks,
Dana
