This Week's Definition: A successful leader know's their core values and can accomplish the common goals of a group by motivating, activating, thinking differently and making clear decisions by communicating effectively. A leader will keep their core values at the center of how they lead while being aware of their surroundings. Leadership used in effective ways includes trust, stability, compassion and hope. Effective leadership displays a sense of delegation and management while helping a group understand the leader is there to serve them in a beneficial way. A leader will create distinctions and progression for a group or team in an enviornment of change.
Analysis of Differences in Definitions: After reading this week's documents I was able to find bits and peices that I connected with. The greatest part I connected with was the idea of communicating effectively, which is what I added to my definition. Communicating effectively means adaptating to different people and sceniors as well as being clear on the goals that want to be achieved.

Analysis of Differences in Definitions This week my definition again had variations from the previous week. This week I added that leadership happens in an enviornment of change. I learned this from the readings and find this to be extremely relevant. I think that if a leader can have growth happening with their group they are being a true leader.

Analysis of Differences in Definitions During the readings this week, I found them somewhat incticing. I connected more with Komives & Lucas, as I found the other reading to be challenging. Within my definition I added an extra sentance to the end. I did this because I think delegation and fostering group progression are two different things but both equally valuable in being a leader. Through helping with distinction and progression allows for dealing with conflict and moving forward.

Analysis of Definitions This week I didn't find the readings particularly influential when relating them to my definition of leadership. I thought they had good points about understanding the social racism and norms that are present in our daily lives but I had a hard time connecting this to leadership. I also have to admit that on some level I was taken a back at the readings, especially Tatum's reference to the fact that we are all racists (if we are white). I would hope that after discussing and understanding why someone would feel this particular way I could better understand those feelings.

Analysis of Differences in Definitions: The differences in my definitions lie in the way I describe what a leader does/can do. I added that a leader thinks differently. From all of the readings this week, this was what kept showing up as a common theme, to me. From the readings I was able to understand that when a leader can think differently, think outside the box they are able to motivate their team and themselves. This is something I don't always do but can see as being an effective tool for the future.

Analysis of Differences in Definitions I unfortunately didn't connect an extreme amount with these readings this week. I did find a connection though in connecting with the overall picture and not getting too wrapped up in wants in front of your eyes. Analysis of Differences The change between my definitons came at the very end of my definition. I added on a small part to a sentance, although small I think it is very valuable. From the reading by Barbuto I was able to better grasp the idea of why leaders lead. I think that there are often many reasons leaders lead, but when leaders have an intention to serve has their main purpose they are often more effective.

Analysis of the Differences After reading the peice by Heifetz, I am able to better grasp the idea of leadership as it relates to management. Analysis of Definiton This week we got the chance to read about making decisions and how this is a vital part of being leader. After reading I connected a lot of what was said last week about our core values to this weeks decision making. I believe that if one knows their values it will be easier to make decisions (Kidder, 25). As shown in my changed definition I added that a leader is able to accomplish goals through making decisions. I believe this represents the fact that if values are established then decisions are made and goals then accomplished.

Last Week's Definition A leader can get things done by motivating and activating a group of people to accomplish a common goal. Leadership used in effective ways includes trust, stability, compassion and hope.
This Week's Definition A sucessful leader know's their core values and can accomplish the common goals of a group by motivating and activating, while keeping their core values at the center of how they lead. Leadership used in effective ways includes trust, stability, compassion and hope.
Analysis of the Differences in Definitions My leadership definition changed slightly after reading this week's course work. I connected with both and found myself really questioning and understanding what my core values are. I see now, that by connecting my core values to who I am as a leader will help me lead more effectively (Terry, 2001). I thought it was necessary to include in my definition that a leader who knows who they are, knows their core values, is at the center of the definition of leadership.

This Week's Definition: A leader can get things done by motivating and activating a group of people to accomplish a common goal. Leadership used in effective ways includes trust, stability, compassion and hope.
Analysis of the Differences in Definitions: The entirety of my definition changed somewhat after analyzing the readings. I personally felt like I really connected with the Rath and Conchie (2009) reading because of their analysis of how most people see positive leaders in their lives. In my definition I changed a leader instead of leadership I used leader because I have found that leadership is activated through leaders. Also I changed my second sentence on how leadership is effective by adapting this to Rath and Conchie's (2009) leadership views. I did this because in order to have followers you must be effective and these are the shown through the readings from this week. I definitely agree with these readings, especially Rath and Conchie's (2009).
