The article I chose to evaluate is titled "Forensic Expert Says Bigfoot is Real" written by Stefan Lovgren (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/10/1023_031023_bigfoot.html). This is an example of an extraordinary claim.
The extraordinary claim is that Bigfoot exists. The article states that the best evidence for Bigfoot's existence is only the short video shot by Roger Patterson in 1967 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOxuRIfFs0w), but this short film is not enough. If skeptics were to believe in Bigfoot, there would have to be evidence like a body or bones rather than just a sighting of a hairy shape walking along a river bank. Without this evidence we are forced to say this article is an extraordinary claim.
