five years from now

five years from now, i think i will remember some of the most influential studies that we have read about. studies like Asch's conformity, Milgram's obedience and Zimbardo's prison experiment i have found to be very interesting and insightful. the main reason i took psychology was because i am interested in why people do the things they do, and the results of these experiments shed some light on my query. another reason i think it would be beneficial for me to keep those experiments in mind is something that i just recently read in my book. people tend to be more likely to help others in a crisis when they have read and understand studies about conformity. so apart from those studies just being an interesting piece of information, they might actually be useful for me or others later in my life. overall though, a lot of the things i learned this semester have enriched my experience of life and have gotten me closer to understanding people. thanks for a great semester!

I agree completely. One thing I have really enjoyed about taking this course (and psychology in general) is being able to get an objective viewpoint on behaviors that I'm completely guilty of committing.

Once you get an outsider's view (we'll call them scientists, of course), it becomes so much easier to predict how I, as a human being, SHOULD react to a certain situation - because it then allows me to take a second and prematurely correct that behavior. I know it doesn't happen all the time, but even the smallest moments are beneficial.

I also agree with what you said. I think a lot of people are picking individual topics for this blog, but I like that you chose the broader aspect of the life applications of the class. I think that is one of the most important things our book and the professors were trying to teach us is that the things we learn in this class will be used every day for the rest of our lives. In addition, I also enjoyed hearing about all of the studies. I think they put the ideas of the book in a new light and made the class more interesting in general.

I whole-heartedly agree with what you have written. My mindset going into this psychology class was that I needed it for a requirement and didn't really think about how much it would be helpful for my future. Knowing what we know now, can be vital when put into a rough situation. Being knowledgeable about all we have learned in this class can even help us individually when we need to learn things about ourselves.

I agree with what you have stated here. Psychology is such an interesting subject, mostly because it is about US. The human mind is so complex. And just like fingerprints, no two minds are the same. Although not everyone does things for every specific reason noted in our book, the general population does.
