Royalty Revisions

Homecoming would not be complete without a Homecoming king and queen. The royal court adds a special, glamorous touch to the celebration. This year the competition for Homecoming Royalty has taken a whole new turn. Many changes have been made to the selection process!

Unlike in past years when the search began during the fall semester, the selection process has already begun! Applications are being accepted online or at the Student Activities Office now through April 27th. After the submission deadline, candidates will be interviewed and the selection pool will be narrowed down to a court of five women and five men. Throughout the summer and into the fall the court will participate in numerous events such as the State Fair and Welcome Week.

The culmination of the competition will take place at the Homecoming Pep-fest on Friday, October 9th. The king and queen will be crowned in front of a crowd at the TCF Bank Stadium; a ceremony that is to become a new Homecoming tradition. However, the excitement doesn’t stop there. New opportunities have been added to the king and queen's responsibilities including representing the University at events throughout the following year. Their efforts will not go unnoticed however, as the king and queen will each receive a monetary scholarship! This scholarship is yet another new addition to the process. Meet the Committee

Coordinator Group Photo.jpg

While it is still more than six months away, extensive planning is already underway for Homecoming 2009! Executive committees and alumni panels have been meeting for quite a while now in order to coordinate all of the details. Just recently have students become involved with the preparations.

Last November five Homecoming Interns began working diligently in five specific areas. These areas have now formed into committees that are listed below. Each Intern's area has a lot to accomplish before October, so numerous Homecoming Coordinators have been recruited to assist them. Many of the Coordinators are pictured above, and a complete list of all the Coordinators follows. One thing is for sure, as Homecoming draws nearer, these students will gradually be getting busier preparing to put on The Ultimate Homecoming!
