Did you know that the Stage Events committee is in charge of the LipSync and Cheer competitions along with the Pep Fest concert? That's a lot of things to take care of! The committee is working hard on getting all the logistics together for LipSync and Cheer. They have to book everything from generators to interactive activities. This year they are also looking into the possibility of having a mechanical bull!
As far as the Homecoming concert goes, planning is still in the initial stages. The committee has been contacting agents to find out what performers are available and within budget. Who would you like to see perform? Let us know your opinion by leaving a comment on the blog!
The Homecoming Student Scholar Showcase is a great place for students to present their hard work! On Wednesday, October 7th, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students will gather in TCF Bank Stadium to present their research on everything from humanities to the world of business. One unique project to be displayed examines acclaimed composer and U of M Regents Professor Dominick Argento's work. The event will attract an audience of local colleges, high schools, University faculty and staff, and corporate representatives.
Not only will students have the chance to network and discuss prospective careers and scholarships at the event, they will also gain access to a URL that showcases their work online for future reference. University Libraries is going to digitally archive each student's work that participates in the showcase. This is a great tool when looking for employment and it would look great on a resume! For more information about the Student Scholar Showcase check out http://www.academic.umn.edu/provost/osa/expo2009.html
