Royalty 2010: Meet Alexa Bailey and Henrique Akaishi

College: College of Liberal Arts

Alexa Bailey is a senior majoring in Communications Studies with a minor in English. Originally from Eagan, Minnesota, she is involved with various student organizations on campus including the Speech Team at the U of MN, and is a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta.

Alexa is honored to be part of the 2010 Homecoming Court, and can't wait to "Paint the Town Gold" with students, alumni and other Minnesota Fans! Go Gophers!

Henrique Akaishi is a junior majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for University Student Legal Services and Recruitment Chair for Omega Nu Alpha Fraternity. In addition, he is a Retail Marketing Consultant for the Minnesota Daily and co-founder of SOTA Pride LLC.

Henrique is excited for round two of TCF Bank Stadium and to see the campus buzzing with Gopher pride.

Reach for the Gold!

With the 2010 Olympics wrapped up in Vancouver and America taking home the most medals, the question is who was good enough to wear the gold medal? Gold is a symbol of strength, power, leadership and talent. Hm, well no wonder why that's one of the school colors for the University of Minnesota!! Gold represents our school's excellence and amplifies all the high stands that each student of the university upholds. That's why we are proud to announce that the 2010 University of Minnesota's fall Homecoming Theme is "PAINT THE TOWN GOLD" So, show your pride and all your gold gear because we are doing it up right this year! Here Ye Here Ye!!

Do you feel you could be a King or Queen of a Top 10 University? Can you be a leader and a team player? Do you have what it takes to represent the maroon and gold, and be a true golden gopher? Well, why not put it to a test? 2010 Homecoming Royalty applications are now being accepted! We are looking for high-spirited, dedicated, enthusiastic, well rounded, and goal oriented true Golden Gopher Students to fill the 10 crowns of the University of Minnesota's Homecoming Royalty! Royalty as Fan Ambassadors.jpgNot only will you be on a pedestal as an ambassador of the University during the week of Homecoming, but if you are one of the lucky two who receive the crown, you will receive a monetary scholarship. This opportunity is open to all students who have attended classes here the entire academic year, have at least 60 credits as of fall 2010 and are maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.
