Want to Rule the School?
Forget about Prince William and Kate Middleton, Homecoming Headquarters has its eye out for a different royal pair! 2011 Homecoming Royalty applications are being accepted now until Monday, April 18th. If you're a dedicated, well-rounded and enthusiastic leader ready to share some Minnesota pride and spirit, take the time and apply for this golden opportunity! Members of the court will attend and participate throughout the week of Homecoming, including appearances at the lip sync competition, flag football competition, parade, and will have the chance to be on the field at TCF Stadium on October 22nd for the Homecoming game versus the Nebraska Cornhuskers! Additionally, the King and Queen will receive a $500 scholarship. Royalty positions are open to all students who have attended classes here at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus, for the entire academic year, have at least 60 credits as of fall 2011 and are maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Homecoming would like to encourage everyone to apply and will be accepting nominations for candidates as well. If you're ready to get the royal treatment, head over to http://homecoming.umn.edu/royalty/ for more details and the application handbook. We have ten crowns waiting for our royalty court... one of them could be yours!
Hello Minnesota! Last but not least, our final Homecoming 2011 intern is Abby Tschanz. Abby served as a volunteer committee member last year and has returned this year as the Marketing and Communications intern. Abby is currently a sophomore studying Finance and Risk Management. When Abby's not busy with school she enjoys volunteering at People Serving People, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. Abby loves being outdoors and is excited for the warm weather to be here soon so she can enjoy her walks to class again.
As the Marketing and Communications intern, Abby will be helping to ensure that everyone at the University knows the ins and outs of Homecoming week. With so many fantastic opportunities and events going on throughout the week, Abby will be working to promote each one so that everyone has the chance to get involved! Abby is especially excited to begin working with the new Homecoming Committee volunteers to start spreading the word, so keep an eye out for them at upcoming events!
