Friday Night Lights

It's that time of the year! Homecoming has finally arrived and we've already had some fantastic events so far this week. Hopefully some of you have had the opportunity to participate in our volunteer experiences, competitions, or Gopherfest. For those of you that haven't been able to share your Homecoming spirit yet, then you need to come out Friday night for our final celebration before the Homecoming football game against Nebraska.

Homecoming Parade
Starting at 7pm, the parade will run down University Ave, ending at Oak St. The Homecoming parade is one of the oldest traditions at the University and will be bigger and better than ever this year. We have over eighty entries this year with some returning entries and some exciting new additions as well. Our Grand Marshall will be Coach Kill, who will be represented in the parade by his mother Sonja, wife Rebecca, and daughters Krystal and Tasha.

Pep Fest
Directly following the parade will be the Pep Fest, held in TCF Bank Stadium. The Pep Fest will feature speakers such as Coach Kill and President Kaler. Pep Fest will also have entertainment provided by the University of Minnesota marching band and spirit squads. We will also be announcing our new Homecoming king and queen! Additionally the Pep Fest will feature a performance by local hip hop legend; Atmosphere. Rolling Stone writes, "This Minneapolis indie rap hero has potential to spare, delivering taut, complex rhyme narratives with everyman earnestness."

Overall, Friday will be a huge celebration of Minnesota pride and spirit, and a celebration you don't want to miss! So stake out some viewing areas for the parade, get your tickets for Pep Fest, and get ready to be loud, proud, and golden!
