i call shenanigans!

as koellner pointed out to me, it has been a while since i have vented any of my feelings in html format. still the newest, most fun thing on my plate is the guitar jon got me for my birthday. i'm teaching myself one-finger chords! fuckin' rock. the sucking vortex which is the foundation has almost fully sucked me in for the summer, and i'm counting on my research project to be my saving grace, as i don't think i can physically handle 40 hours a week in that crazy building! fourth of july was fun, (even though i woke up the next day with a kidney infection)--we spent the day out at my uncle's eating, then went out on his boat to watch fireworks. it would have been more fun if there had been drunken shenanigans, but a good time was had by all in any case. i hope koellner, tim and bill are looking forward to a true geek-end at the dungeons and dragons convention...sounds like another weekend of me watching city of heroes! as for right now, i am "working" at the foundation, planning on emailing my long lost cousin, dreading my father's phone call, wondering when my new, non-expired credit card will come, and counting the minutes until the $600 magically appears in my account, courtesy of the U of M.

I vote for an immediate return trip to Myrtle Beach! The waves and sun were just what I needed after finishing my exams, as was a week of relaxing with jon. (Although I have decided that playing mom for a family of nine is not as much fun as it sounds.) The return trip was...eventful...to say the least. Hopefully the total cost of fixing Paul's car won't break my bank for the rest of the summer.
The guys will be getting a new roommate this week...I think I am more excited to have jon living with them than they are, but probably share their enthusiasm as far as their vermin roommates go.
In conclusion, this should be one of my best summers yet--rocking at shows, rocking at the foundation, and, in the words of bill: "Do you know what I'm excited for this summer? Drinkin'." Not just drinking, but finally getting shit together.

after a weekend of beer pong and falafel, and a night of honey weiss and irish car bombs, i can say with good faith that my birthday was one of the best ever. the karaoke at bobby z's treated jon and tim very well, and i will never think of "you've lost that loving feeling" the same way again. tonight i laid low in recovery, called an almost-wasted bill to wish him a happy 21st, and finally beat jon at pool, which is practically a phenomenon of nature similar to hale-bopp. i'm counting the minutes until we get to myrtle beach where further shenanigans shall ensue. rock.

after seven hours, i can say with faith that my geekdom progresses daily. i think the pink dice are what really sealed it though.
the boat trip was, as expected, amazing, although i have many large bruises adorning my body that i simply have no explanation for. post party shenanigans ran amok when a kid doing a keg stand was flipped over and landed on the guy's gas line, breaking it off from the furnace.
before i welcome my wonderful boyfriend home, i need to review kill bill vol. 1.

the excitement for friday's drunken boat trip down the st. croix mounts as we all recall (thanks to spring jam) how much we really do love day drinking. i'm betting on needing a nap around 6. until then, i shall waste away the day with work and my last homework assignment. class, schmass, really. i'll be starting my undergrad research project after we get back from myrtle beach--i fully plan on being an expert on minnesota's forest land market when i'm done. myrtle beach should be fun...i've already made a public promise of no freak outs! after the drama of spring jam, i don't really think i could handle it.

so if you could commemorate one thing, what would you choose? of course, i have chosen to pay tribute to the glam of 80s hair bands in a speech. really, it doesn't get much better than teased hair and leather pants.
currently, my life is a spinning vortex of new music (see playlist), practice exams, freaking out about exams, general work-related stress, and all i want to do is lie down in the middle of it and take a nap. in its end, this week shall be rewarded with hilarity and debauchery.
