Follow up from class

Hi Folks,

Here are some weblinks to things I mentioned. I'll write again later with a few more thoughts about the Manovich reading (clarifying a point in class) and with information on next week's readings.

1) John Whitney's Catalog (1961):

2) Dziga Vertov's Man With a Movie Camera (1929), beginning (film proper starts at 2:40 or so):

3) Peter Greenaway--opening of Prospero's Books (1991), based on Shakespeare's The Tempest

no word limits!

Hi--

Just wanted to note that I don't want you to feel as if you have to artificially constrain yourselves in terms of word limits. Obviously, really long posts would not be helpful, but, to cite one example, David's recent post is not too long at all. Anyway, just to reiterate, post away!

No extra readings this week

Hi Folks,

I think that, for this week, we'll do without extra readings, as I want us to focus on, dig into, and get what we can out of the Manovich book. But, we might look at some online art sites, such as the following, to see where this guy is coming from, in part.
