Self Portrait Artists Response
I personally liked Anne Leibovitz’s work the best. There were bold colors and the people looked like they were in their own environment while still sort of posing like models and less candid shots. I thought that the Alain Fleischer photos were the most creative. It was hard to believe that some of those were strictly photographs with no alterations. I found August Sander’s work well taken and the pictures looked nice, but they were all very similar, usually people doing their work with a head-on shot and little to no smile. Some of Moholy-Nagy’s things looked like it was made with a copy machine or an x-ray. I’m not sure if that is to be art or not, but to some one it is. I liked Moholy-Nagy’s building shots, though. There were lots of strong lines and they looked graphic. I noticed that a number Berenice Abbott’s pictures had one strong line in them.
