Chambers Art Hotel
The piece that I found the most interesting was the sculpture of the man's head. I thought its placement within the restaurant was unusual but it probably gets the most attention. I wouldn't want to have to look at it, though, while I am eating. The piece kind of hurt my eyes/brain because I wanted it to be proportionate, but it was very distorted. I also found the iron trash bags amusing. They looked so realistic, it seems hard to imagine that it takes 3 people to move each one. I wouldn't necessarily classify it as art I would purchase, because I would get tired of explaining to people that it is not real trash. The video of the cigarette burning, to me, is more than just a video. At first glance it's just a picture, and then you realize it's moving. So it is almost photography and acting (the actors had to stay so still) combined, but the creator of the idea is the actual artist. I liked this art gallery better than the Walker because of the way the art was displayed, it felt less museum-y.
