Andy Warhol Assignment
I found the Andy Warhol video very interesting especially as a person who
doesn’t know much about art and artist such as Andy Warhol. The first thing
that really surprised me was the way he painted throughout his life. Doing
many paintings of the same item, but in different renditions was really
interesting to me. This concept was something that I would have not thought
of. With this concept it was astonishing that Warhol was able to only draw
about 30 paintings in his lifetime and get some much recognition. I guess
one of the ways he was able to receive and attract the attention was by
doing very large painting such as 6 foot by 8 foot. Using brand names was a
very creative way to get his point across in paints such as the Coke Cola
and Campbell’s soup. The last thing about the video on Andy Warhol that
drew my attention was the fact that he used a lot of religious symbols and
figures in paints. This I think really showed his view about religion and
especially the Catholic Church. Overall I really enjoyed learning about the
artist Andy Warhol and how his work has been viewed and perceived by others
over time.
