Amerisian: A Blend of Both Worlds
This is homage to my parents for giving up their dreams to give me and my siblings a better life and in return I try to live up to their expectations but sometimes those two worlds conflict and I have to choose between the two. I want to make my parents happy because they sacrificed so much to make me happy but at the same time, sometimes they expect so much that I feel more like an investment than an actual person.
I created this as part of a self-portrait assignment for my Time and Interactivity class and I'm really happy with the result. The lanterns represent my Asian heritage and the angel feathers stand in for my American birth since angels are predominantly a symbol found in "white" culture.
