What? No class?

That's right. No lecture today November 8 and the lab sessions are officially over. You have until November 12 to complete your 5-slide Powerpoint presentation that completes your Lab 7 assignment. Turn it in on a floppy or CD to the hanging file marked 'Orientation Assignments' in Green Hall 115.

Graded papers, CDs and such

Your work for Lab 2 is graded and available at the lab grade Web site. If you've forgotten your LabID, come see me during lab period or email me.

Those of you who missed the field trip, your alternate assignments have been graded. See me during lab to pick yours up.

The CDs you created for Lab 2 are still usable. I'll have them in lab this week and next should you wish to pick them up.

Don't forget that you'll need at least one CD-R to burn in lab this week. You'll be finding geospatial data on the Web and some of these files are pretty big.

Bring at least one CD-R to lab.

How to blog yourself

Ready for some fun? All members of this class are now authors on this blog. That means you can create and share messages with the rest of the class that are as clever and informative as this one. It's easy.

First, the link to the main university blog site is here. Once you're at the main site, on the left side of the screen, you'll see a link that says 'Login to your blog'. Select that. You'll get a standard log-in screen just like for your email where you enter your university email name and password.

A new screen will display that shows all of your blogs. Right now, there's probably just one. Want to have your own blog? Read that main blog page or see me -- I'd be happy to help you create one.

Anyway, to create a message to share with the class (and the entire Internet), select the tag that says 'New entry' or 'Create new entry' underneath the listing for the blog ENR/FR/RRM 1001.

Compose your message. At the bottom of the screen are two buttons: Preview and Save. Guess what they do? Maybe you should try each one and see.

The good news is that any message you create can be changed or deleted after posting by you because, well...you're the author...and by me, because, well...I'm the TA...so be nice, keep the language clean and try not to say bad things about me, your classmates or your instructors, even if they're true.
