A series of unfortunate events in Mankato

A MNSU Mankato student, Rissa J. Amen-Reif was hit by a car and killed early Sunday morning. The Gamma Phi Beta was walking with her sorority sister,Corinne L. Overstake, to downtown Mankato when they realized they were lost. They called for a ride and as they were crossing the street Amen-Reif lost her footing and fell. Overstake went to help her up when a car hit them both. The drivers name was not released because he is a minor at 17-years-old. Overstake is crtically injured and suffered a broken cervical, lower back and pelvic bones.
The Star Tribune covered the story along with the Pioneer Press. The two stories were somewhat similar covering the background information but including past stories about the other recent deaths of MNSU students. Both of the stories had memorial service information. The Pioneer Press had a picture from the facebook memorial site of the two girls.
