quinsong, Xiaogang, final idea

wang qinsong is a contemporary artist that uses photoshop and photography as a way to make statements about contemporary life. Usually they are sarcastic statements that can appear amusing but they are loaded with meaning. Fast food appearing in war scenes for one is a very loaded image and amusing at the same time. He will also take classical scenes from art and redo them as contemporary moments to create a revival in there meanings.

Zhang Xiaogang takes the ideas of simple portraits and simplifies them into almost being images of cartoons. They appear to be mostly monochromatic or blake and white then have a splash of color in them usually a florescent color across the face of an individual. The blank stares from the portraits are eerie as if there is no soul starring back at you. Also the young boy sitting there with no pants and an underdeveloped member, staring at you makes you uncomfortable, initiating a response from the viewer.

For my final project i was considering using flash to make an interactive art portfolio. But since you asked for there to be more meaning and depth to it I'm considering doing a morph of images of people, different styles and situations and have them morph into each other to demon-straight how there are all the same in a since of being human.
