Police believe a military recruiter fatally shot a girl he signed up for the Army before killing himself on Sunday night, ABC news said.
Staff Sgt. Adam Arndt, 31, was found Monday morning in his Germantown home, dead of a gun shot wound, CBS news said. Also found fatally shot was 17-year-old Michelle Miller, a senior at Rockville High School, CBS reported.
Miller was signed up to enter the Army Reserves after she graduated to help pay for her college, ABC news said.
Miller's father, Kevin Miller, had not met Arndt but said that his daughter seemed "a little smitten with the guy," ANC news said. Miller said his daughter left their Rockville home Sunday night, saying somebody in her platoon was suicidal. He said she stopped responding to his calls and text messages.
As concerned father, Miler contacted his daughter's friends and found out she had sent a few unusual messages to friends saying that she loved them and saying goodbye, ABC news said.
Miller called the police, who arrived around 9 a.m. at Ardnt's home, ABC news said. When they unable to make contact with anyone in the house, officers forced there way in, and discovered the bodies, ABC news said.
Investigations are ongoing.
