A meme I can't resist

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

The greatest threats to the security of Battledale are the House Jaelre drow (see Cormanthor, below), who see an opportunity to overthrow a weak dale while they gather their strength to deal with better defended or better organized dales. Skirmishes against the drow concern the Battledarrans greatly because of the quadrennial Shieldmeet festival to be held outside Aencar's manor at Midsummer. The Lord of Essembra seeks loyal and competent adventurers to help him secure Battledale's borders before the festival begins.

Eep. I'm really not as geeky as all that. Well, maybe I am -- besides D&D books, other nearby books tend heavily toward library-geekdom. This was fun in spite of my embarassing results, however...

Hey Stacie - this is actually in reference to your October 19 post. Woke up this morning thinking about the awfulness of the mixed grill scene, without being able to remember where it came from - just the feeling of what it would be like to be in a life and a marriage gone bad. So I google "mixed grill dad" and arrive at your page and discussion of The Corrections. So thanks for posting so I can proceed with my morning without endless wondering about what novel (movie, play, whatever) that scene came from. But, does anyone else feel like they are becoming a sort of cyborg, with a little squishy brain in a cranium and a giant annex brain located in cyber space? Am I downsizing my brain as I age, giving away my tools and just borrowing stuff from the neighbors when I need it? Is that bad? Maybe its not a big deal and really just an extension of writing down one's thoughts in a little book, except now it's so easy to access the thoughts you wrote in your little book. Random blathering. Time to go to work. Hope you have an interesting day (the best kind).

Glad I could be of assistance, buzzbee. I do think I'm lazier about trying to remember things than I used to be. What's next -- the hive mind?

Hope your day was just ducky, and mercifully free of mixed grill.
