Do they have a chance?
Media Journal
As the 2008 election is coming soon, candidates for president are fighting and trying to cover as much ground as they can. By this I mean they are trying to win the votes and be the next president.
However this time around media is concentrate around different causes than usually. As I remember media was more concerned about the policies that the new candidate promises to bring to the table. However, this time around they seem to be more concerned about who is running (sex, race) for that seat in the white house.
For example the other day I was watching some show and they were talking about how Hillary Clinton and Obama are refreshing news to so predictable-white-male territory. But, as they were talking they were in a way discriminating against both Obama and Clinton by saying that they just can’t win they are not that strong candidates, one person even added that “American is not ready for ‘those’ leaders.
I think that media should give equal chance to all candidates and not secretly ignore the possibility that we might indeed have a black or woman as a president of the United States.

I don't think the media is at all disconting this possibility of having a woman or minority as president. Obama being president see,s very unlikely although Hilary CLinton is currently the favorite according to most although still a fairly low chance of winning against the whole field. ALso I would think something that is not talked about enough would be the chances of these two of winning the nomination vs. succedding in the general election essentially against one candidate due to the state of the two party system in the country. Discrimination from the voters may be a reason for not wanting to have a minority candidate, who may win the primaries because the votes are spread out through many Democrats, the people who would not want a candidate have many others to choose from and not just the Republican candidate. I would give both of these candidates a good chance to win the primary but I think it would be bad for the party as they would lose in the general election. I also agree that it is somewhat problematic that the media seems so enamored with these stories and is straying away from issues and information being more accessible through the media.
