Tech integration is obvious - autocad, email, math etc. etc.

Managing partnerhips could be challenging. I am always wary of mixing business in the schools - ie coke, advertising etc. However if this is well managed, there is lots of potential. Perhaps risks are less with more local companies where relationships might be closer.

Maybe our staff dev classes are not all that effective in helping teachers use technology. Some type of follow up might be necessary. Maybe new strategies altogether. This will be difficult.

Unfortunately the goal which needs to be measured - student learning - is extremely difficult to measure in any way which makes sense. This was a major struggle for me when writing the 2004 tech plan.

Some of the ideas on the grid will be helpful in coming up with some realistic measuring strategies.

The energy spent in doing so could perhaps be more wisely spent actually implementing technology.

Does putting it in frame works help this process or aid in making these decisions. Presumably transformational software is "better" than replacement. But if it accomplishes the goal - helping kids learn, then it is not clear that the distinction matters.

Academic standards need tech help, but not sure they are appropriate in the tech plans.

Also very concerned about the evaluation portion of the plan. Which districts have the resources do to a lot specific evaluation of plan success - beyond the obvious.

How do you write plans for experiments? If plan says we'll go this way if this pans out .... How do all the possibilities get accounted for?

Still we have several at our new school who are thriled with new technology and are making great use of it despite minimal training. Getting others to follow is a key issue as is showing its effectiveness.
