In the excerpt from Byrd's diary, he is quite repetitive. It almost has a rhythm to it. Is there a reason for his style of writing, and is there much we can learn from his diary?

What sort of impact did the style of writing appear to have on the Native American trickster tales? Did one form of writing vs. another have less/more of an impact for anyone?
Some tales are written in poetry form, while others are not. Being that these tales were orginally verbalized, is it more appropriate to also tell these tales in a more artistic vein(eg. throught poetry)?
