Olympic Torch Run Protested
Protestors objecting to China's human rights history fought with British police Sunday as the Olympic torch ceremony passed through London, according to the BBC.
As the torch was being carried through the city on its way to the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, thousands crowded into the streets, along with many protestors with police arresting at least 30 people.
The torch was being carried by British sports stars and celebrities and was surrounded by British and Chinese police, according to the New York Times.
Protestors broke through the crowd and attempted to grab the torch but police wrestled them to the ground. One man tried to put out the flame with a fire extinguisher but was beaten away by the police.
Many people there were Chinese supporters, including students and people of Chinese origin living in Britain. There were also groups and individuals that gathered to protest against China's recent activity in Tibet and the human rights history, including labor camps, that China has had.
