Presentations started today, and although it's a little difficult, it's easy to get scared when actually presenting.
I felt well prepared for the presentation, but I was worried about choking almost the entire time. I suspect it never goes away, but even outright forgettin where you are is scary when it happens. A good outline helps, and also practicing a little bit can't hurt too, for when I do this later, does anyone else have anything they do before hand?
Posted by rude0055 at September 20, 2004 07:01 PMright with you on the whole getting a little nervous durring the presentation. what i did was go through what i was going to say one last time a few minuets before the speach, it keeps you busy, reinforces what you will say, and from thinking about the nerve racking parts.
Posted by: Ash S. at September 22, 2004 02:04 PMHey--all of this is TOTALLY natural. I still feel this way sometimes. I think that the trick is to slow your breathing by taking deep breaths right before you go up and focusing on pausing in-between points. Otherwise, we forget to breathe! I think once you do this enough and have enough successes, you almost start to feed off of that nervous feeling--instead, you feel it like adrenaline, and you actually perform BETTER than you would if you were relaxed. Everyone has a great natural energy when they speak (maybe b/c of the adrenaline/nervousness)--it's just a matter of channeling it.
