This is my first class that has other students from different schools apart of the class too. I think that it is a great opportunity for those students and it's good that the schools participate in that too. It is different having microphones, cameras and televisions everywhere, but I think it is a neat experience. I wonder what it would be like to on the other side with the Rochester students.

I think they have an advantage giving speeches to a camera instead of to real people -- its like practicing in your mirror.
Posted by: dave e at September 24, 2004 03:08 PMUnfortunately, there's not much we can do about the audio cut-outs--part of the fun of an ITV class.
There are definitely benefits and drawbacks of giving your speech to a camera. It may take off the pressure a little, due to people not being right in front of you, but it's also harder to keep people interested and entertained, since we as a culture expect this from TV broadcasts. It would be great to hear from the Rochester students about this, too, what they think of it. Also a note to Rochester students: anytime you'd like to give your speech in person, you're totally welcome in the classroom.
