Health Sciences librarian Jim Beattie recently worked with a faculty member who wished to upload an article to the UDC. The one problem...the author didn't retain the copyrights when he published with the journal. So, after checking the publishers open status in Sherpa-Romeo and finding it to not be "green" we took the next best step: asked the publisher for permission to post. See the UDC version of the article titled"SERGEI WINOGRADSKY: A FOUNDER OF MODERN MICROBIOLOGY AND THE FIRST MICROBIAL ECOLOGIST" by Martin Dworkin.
The UDC toolkit includes an email template to request permission to post a publisher-owned version of an UMN author's article to the UDC. Try it out!
Other email templates in the toolkit include:
- Departments/Centers/Institutes
- Faculty
- Conference/Posters
- Follow-Up For a New Collection
- Students Contacted by Publishers (Regarding Works in UDC)
- Requests to publishers (to obtain permission to post to UDC, created by Sherpa-Romeo)
