Athamita Kasi: Now playing on BBC Radio 1 Bobby Friction & Nihal Show

One of the worlds leading DJ, brilliant and extreamly articulate Radio show host Nihal has picked our Athamita Kasi song to play in his Bobby Friction & Nihal show. Booby Friction & Nihal show is one of the hottest Radio Show in BBC Radio One. Both Bobby and Nihal always provide us a platfrom to rise and tell our aesthetic story to the world. As a tabla player, song writer and a big fan of Asian Underground music, I have been religiously listening to Bobby Nihal Show week after week. And I am really honored and thankful to both Nihal and Bobby for selecting a song that I wrote to be played in BBC Radio One Bobby & Nihal Show for the second consecutive time. Last year Nihal played "Paa Salamba" track which I wrote for Ranidu for almost three weeks in his play list.
It is so cloying to hear a song that you wrote on a place like BBC...

Ranidu's New Track & My lyrics

It was the day after X'Mas (08), Ranidu was in Sri Lanka and we had just finish the "Sebalaneni" (Solider) Track. It was fun, Ranidu was at Ranga's Studio finishing is "Amme Mathakai Nam" and "Nilnayaniye". I was thousands of miles far away in Minnesota over the phone giving lyrics to Ranidu. So within 48 hours we finished two tracks. We had to it in such a hurry, because Ranidu had only few weeks left in his Sri Lanka trip. Keep it in mind that we may do things in a hurry but we never let down our standard, or the class of the product. Yesterday Ranidu just released "Athamita Kasi" Track which is about Fake Friends (be honest we all have them) on Facebook. If you have facebook account you can enjoy our work. The "Sebalaneni" track will get release soon.

Sri Lankan Army, This song is for you

Even though I was born in Colombo, I can say that I was born with the war. My parents saw how the war started and they always wished that it would end at least during their kids life time. But thanks to our brave soldiers, those wishers are no longer just wishes. Sri Lankan Army has brought those wishes to reality and given the freedom to Sri Lanka under one flag. Our fellow Sri Lankan brothers have sacrificed their lives to provide a better future for us and our kids.

As nation we have always been supportive for our brave soldiers. But its time to show our gratitude more than ever to men and women wearing uniform to protect our island from LTTE.

Thanks to Ranidu I got the opportunity to show that gratitude by writing a song for our brave soldiers. And I am glad to hear that all the proceeds from this song will be given to Sri Lankan Army "Api Wenuwen Api" Foundation.

Lyrics for Ranidu & Iraj's new Track

Few months ago, Iraj send me one of his latest track and asked me to put lyrics for it. Thanks to the busy summer schedule I had, I didn't have time to finish the song. Finally I started writing and finished a chorus and another verse of the song. I think I should be able to finish it by end of this weekend. Track is awesome and I am sure its going to be the next hit song in Sri Lanka. I have to finish the track and send it to Ranidu where he will add few changes(beats) to the track as well as his rocking voice. So everyone... wait until we blow all your minds with this track...

Also Thanks for all the listeners who made two of the songs that I wrote for Ranidu's latest album as most popular songs in Sri Lanka. Check it out www.raniduonline.com

My Name is on Sunday Times

The first official single Paa Salamba Sala- ft Anson was released on Radio1 and BBC Asian network in December 2006 and was the first Sinhalese single to be on the 'A' list of the Asian network. Lyrics for the album were provided by the usual friends- Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, Chanaka Jayasekera, Kelum Shreemal, Vasantha Dukgannarala and a childhood friend of Ranidu's Anuradha Uduwage.

I am so happy to see my name with some of the leading song writers in Sri Lanka,

Done with Four Songs

Finally Ranidy and I finish four songs with my lyrics and Ranidu's Marvelous Tracks. It was a tuff job to write lyrics to Ranidu's music. He has great talent and unique style of composing music, which I like the most.

"Pa salaba Sala Nuba Natana Rata
Digu Warala Sale Suwa Pawan Sala.... " This is going to be the next hit in Sri Lankan music word.

My First Song

Few weeks ago Ranidu (Sri Lankan Leading R&B Singer) told me that I have to right some lyrics for his new Album. I think before that I should explain what a history between two of us. I knew Ranidu from my 5th Grade; we played in the same school band for Mrs. Anita Fernando. I should mention about Iraj, who is the number one Sri Lankan Hip Pop and R&B Producer. My self, Ranidu, Iraj we were little crazy about music. When we were in school we always wanted to form a band and perform. This was a dream, but I am so proud that Iraj and Ranidu made their dreams come true by releasing hit albums in Sri Lanka. In my case I just played Tabla in shows but never did any recordings except one time in SLBC.
During our A/L classes Ranidu started to work on his first Album, I can’t remember exactly if he had the idea of the album but regardless he started to work on this lyrics that he got from one of his mom's colleague. We spend days at his place putting a tune to that song. I helped him to put some Guitar parts to the tune but overall Ranidu produced entire track, which was an excellent track. The name of the track was Obamagemai. We played this track for the first time at My Kind of Place and I contributed from my wicked Tabla beats. It was a blast.

Coming back to my first song, Ranidu send me two tracks for me to write lyrics and one got recorded last weekend. I wrote the lyrics and send it to Ranidu. And Ranidu being the genius voiced it within two hours and send it back to me and I was speechless. I didn't have words to explain. It was awesome, my lyrics sounded perfect with Ranidu’s amazing voice. I called Anjana and let her listen and then I called Indi my friend from Rochester and let him listen over the phone. Then I called my parents and let them listen over the phone. They all like it, especially my mom, who has a very good knowledge of song writing gave me the green light. Now I am waiting Ranidu to voice the second song that I wrote.

ProVibe brought the house down

It was a blast. I am writing this after finishing a successful show at Babalu(Minneapois, Minnesota) on Friday night. This was my second appearance with ProVibeDjs. I started the Bollywood screams with Dj Anba playing tabla beats along with Asian Underground music. People where staring at my hands to grasp the movements of my hands on tablas. Then Dj Galuck joined with me to spin his best hip-hop tracks. Crowd went nuts when I mixed tabla beats with Dj Galuck's crazy and cool hip-hop mixings. After the party everyone gave best regards to Dj Galuck's Hip-hop mixing, Dj Anba’s Asian underground tracks and my (Anu Ji) tabla mixing.

Its confirm that ProVibe brought the house down....
