A partnership with Crookston's elementary schools and the University of
Minnesota, Crookston encouraged elementary students to think about
attending college at an early age. Project Strong Start was designed as a
college day, bilingual-learning experience prompting fourth, fifth,
and sixth grade students, to aspire to a college education. There were 112 fifth grade students visiting the campus on Thursday May 27th, as
part of Project Strong Start.
The project was fully funded through a grant from United Way of Crookston. Lori Wagner, President of United Way of Crookston, remarked, "very impressive!" after witnessing the enthusiastic welcome by Chancellor Casey, Regal and UMC's Admission's Director and staff.
