The Golden Eagles were led today by senior, defensive back, Cody Brekken (DB, 5-11, 185, Sr, Crookston, Minn.) who led all players with 12 (5 solo, 7 assisted) total tackles. Brekken played his last game at Ed Widseth Field following a career that has spanned about seven years from when he played at Ed Widseth Field during his high school career in Crookston. The defense also forced two fumbles and recovered both. Offensively, senior Tim Ennis (QB, 6-2, 210, Sr, Lancaster, Calif.) completed nine passes for 100 yards with a long of 32 yards. Senior, tight end, Chris Clay (TE, 6-6, 220, Sr, Ypsilanti, Mich.) led the receiving core with two catches for 62 yards including the team-long of 32 yards. Keith McBride (RB, 5-11, 195, So, Lodi, Wis.) rushed 18 times for 30 yards and one touchdown. The two yard score in the fourth quarter capped off a nine play, 66 yard drive that took 5:21.
Minnesota Duluth was led by Chase Vogler who completed 11-12 passes for 170 yards, two touchdowns with a long completion of 58 yards. Brad Foss rushed nine times for 90 yards and two touchdowns. D.J. Winfield continues to be the main target for the Bulldogs as he caught five passes for 90 yards and one score. The UMD defensive core was led by Colby Ring who earned eight tackles and one sack. Rob Huberty recovered one fumble and returned it 18 yards for a Bulldog score that put UMD up 49-0 in the third quarter.
The Golden Eagles are 1-9 overall and 0-9 in NSIC play. #1 Minnesota Duluth advances to a perfect 9-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play this season. UMC closes out the 2010 campaign on Saturday, November 13 when they travel to Bemidji State to play the rival Beavers. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
