Golden Eagles Sink Marauders 70-65

Zelinsky_Jamie10.JPG(Bismarck, N.D.) The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to the University of Mary to play the Marauders in an NSIC match-up. The teams swapped the lead seven times but in the second half the Golden Eagles extended their lead to 10 points and went on to the 70-65-victory.

Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led all players with 21 points. She was 7-13 from the field and a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line. She dished three assists and grabbed two steals. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, So, Albertville, Minn.) and Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Jr, Rosemount, Minn.) followed Zelinsky with 14 and 13 points respectively. Wiese tallied a team-high four steals. Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, So, Rosemount, Minn.) tied a game-high with 10 rebounds.

The Marauders grabbed 22 offensive rebounds in the game and turned them into 16 second chance points. Mary was led by Rachel Zillmer who scored 15 points. Shaunna Knife tied a game-high with 10 rebounds including six offensive boards.

Minnesota, Crookston falls to 9-10 overall and 6-9 in the NSIC. Mary falls to 10-10 overall and 7-9 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return to the court on Saturday, February 5 to play Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
