WBCA "Pink Zone" Night on Friday, February 11 at Men's and Women's Basketball

Thumbnail image for Pink-Zone-Web-Large.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston's (UMC) Athletic Department announced today that Friday, February 11 will be WBCA "Pink Zone" Night at the Golden Eagle Women's and Men's Basketball games at Lysaker Gymnasium.
 
WBCA "Pink Zone" Night is a promotion with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise breast cancer awareness. The UMC women and men play Bemidji State University at 6 & 8 p.m. on Friday. Everyone wearing pink will get into the games for half price. Golden Eagle athletes will also be selling pink t-shirts with various "Pink Zone" slogans on them during the event. There will be "Pink" games and prizes awarded at all time-outs and at other times throughout the night. Proceeds from the t-shirts, games and cookies will go to breast cancer awareness and research. The UMC teams will be wearing various pink accessories and shooting shirts in recognition of the events.

WBCA "Pink Zone" History
The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone™, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
