A group of 30 U of M, Crookston students (and three staff members) joined fellow students from the University's Duluth, Rochester, and Twin Cities campuses for Support the U Day at the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul on Tuesday, February 9. While at the Capitol, the group met with Representative Bernie Lieder and toured the building. Prior to arriving in St. Paul, the group made a stop at Coffman Student Union on the Twin Cities campus to learn about the Minnesota Legislature and discuss the issues and the University's request for the state bonding bill. U of M Regent Maureen Ramirez also addressed the students gathered there. While the day involved 11 hours in a bus, the students got an informative, first-hand look at the workings of democracy and put in a few good words in support of the University of Minnesota.
