Third "Sustainability Spotlight" features research by Junior Abbey Wemimo

DSC03977.jpgA "Sustainability Spotlight" taking place at noon on Monday, July 9, focused on some of the research of Abbey Wemimo, a senior majoring in business who is interning with the Northwest Regional Sustainable Development Partnership (NWRSDP) this summer.

His presentation, "Visualizing Indicators - Affecting Change" highlighted several key areas including resilient communities, local foods and sustainable agriculture, and clean energy. Wemimo is working closely with Linda Kingery who serves as the executive director of the Northwest Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnership.

The NWRSDP, working with the U of M College of Design, explored the use of sustainability indicators applied to local, regional and statewide scales.  Indicators enable people to start with a common understanding of the region as we work toward a sustainable future. You can view the full report on the NWRSDP Web site.

Wemimo's presentation is the third in a series of "Sustainability Spotlights" taking place on campus this summer.
