'Cooking Safely for a Crowd' video conference set for Oct. 18

ST. PAUL, Minn. (09/12/2011) —Do you occasionally volunteer to help plan, prepare or serve food at a large group event? To help you provide safe food, University of Minnesota Extension and the Minnesota Department of Health are offering "Cooking Safely for a Crowd," a video conference broadcast in 15 sites across Minnesota on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, 1-4 p.m.

This free workshop for church and community groups will satisfy the requirement for a trained volunteer as stated in Minnesota Statutes 157.22, as amended during the 2011 legislative session. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Instructors will be Extension food safety educators and staff from the Minnesota Department of Health.

The workshop is free. Broadcast sites, primarily county government and state agency buildings, are located in Anoka, Alexandria, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Fergus Falls, Mankato, Marshall, Rochester, St. Cloud, St. Paul, Willmar, Wadena and Winona.
