By Bev Durgan, University of Minnesota Extension Dean
Extension and counties benefit from the 87 county Extension committees that advise Extension and counties. In addition, I value the input from the statewide Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) that provides a grassroots perspective on the operations, strategies and impacts of Extension at the broader statewide level.
We are now seeking nominations for the Extension's CAC, and I welcome your assistance in identifying and nominating potential members. The CAC meets twice yearly, during State Fair week and in the spring. Other contacts with Extension are through conference calls, small group meetings, and one-on-one conversations with me and members of my leadership team.
Potential candidates should have knowledge of or experience with some part of Extension. Past and current members include county commissioners, Master Gardeners, farmers/producers, county Extension committee members, and agency and community leaders. Potential candidates should have an interest in Extension education and research and the future of Extension in Minnesota. They need to be available to attend the two annual meetings and be willing to speak up to share their thoughts and perspectives.

Thank you for helping to identify key Minnesotans to serve on this committee.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the AMC Annual Conference in December. During the conference, the AMC Extension Committee will be meeting jointly with the AMC Rural Development committee. We will hear from guest speaker Dr. Marla Spivak, University of Minnesota Extension Entomologist and MacArthur Fellow, about her groundbreaking research and education to promote the health of bee pollinators. We also look forward to seeing you at the Extension booth in exhibitor hall.
