ST. PAUL, Minn. (3/03/2014)—University of Minnesota Extension is leading the 2014 Minnesota Statewide High Tunnel Conference on March 24 and 25 at the Minneapolis Boulevard Hotel in Brooklyn Center.

High tunnels, also called hoop houses, are temporary structures that extend the growing season.

For beginners and those seeking a review, a beginning high tunnel grower workshop is offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon on March 24. The main conference begins that day at 12:45 p.m. and continues through March 25.

Other main conference topics include:
• life cycles and control of serious high tunnel tomato diseases
• deep winter green production
• taming the high tunnel environment
• using super-oxygenated water in tomato and strawberry high tunnel production
• biological and exclusionary pest control
