Students and boosters of the University of Minnesota gathered in the rotunda of the Capitol this afternoon for Support the U Day. Attendees rallied together and met with their legislators. President Bob Bruininks spoke about the importance of the U of M to the state and keynote speaker, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, told the story of how the U was involved in his life.

It's been hailed as one of the greatest works of fiction of all time. Now Watchmen, the cult classic graphic novel, comes to the big screen. To give a believable sense of authenticity, filmmakers asked University of Minnesota physics professor Jim Kakalios, and author of "The Physics of Superheros," to serve as the film's science consultant. Wednesday morning a University of Minnesota garbage truck transformed the sidewalk in front of Coffman Union into a temporary landfill. Soon after it was scoured by university student and staff volunteers on the hunt for recyclable items.
